ASF-58 Rapier 2

The Rapier 2 is a Northrop Grumman and Sukhoi joint venture that out classed the Ryan Aerospace industry aerospace fighter entry. The Federation requirement to replace the ASF-50 Skimitar that weighed in at 192,000 lb empty 368,000 full. Like the original North American XF-108 Rapier this craft uses a Cranked delta wings to provide stability and maneuverability. To save weight the fighter uses particle cannons to be a hard hitting strike fighter and uses one 5 point internal rack saving 80,000lbs of wieght. For lighter foes a 30mm autocannon is in the nose below an AESA radar. A crew of two is used to manage the heat caused by the particle cannons as well as very the strength of the beams is behind the pilot who also functions as a RIO. Too reduce the need for heatsinks vents and cooling inlets are mounted above and along the particle cannon. The craft has four intakes to cool the short stroke fast pumping fusion engines  twin PW-390 engines which can provide more than enough thrust that it has no need to maintain a high angle of attack at low speed. To further reduce the ability of IR weapons the craft employs inverted V-tail along with 32 chaff and flair launchers By mattPLOG
